Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Step in for Marc Guehi in Three Lions Selection

Trevoh Chalobah in action

Trevoh Chalobah followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, becoming the twenty-first pair of brothers to earn caps for the England side.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to join up with the England squad to fill in for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to meet up with the squad for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, although it has not yet been officially announced.

The England team have already secured qualification for the upcoming competition.

Chalobah earned his maiden invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel stated Chalobah was unfortunate to be left out from the squad for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also didn't call him up for the following October matches.

Tuchel has been an significant presence in Chalobah's progress, having handed him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in nearly all games for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the team occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the league phase of the European competition.

Guehi sustained a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are set to be additional call-ups to the squad. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) will withdraw from the national team.
