The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch designed himself in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. Not even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's everyday beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable symbol of the series. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole customization item from the show arriving in the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to earn more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the missions will require players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also receive rims with a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
