19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.
The opponent defended four early break points in a competitive third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
